The tools, on their own

Products do the conditioning. Tools do the distributing and the shaping — and without them an oil sits on the surface of the beard instead of reaching the skin, which is the layer that actually needed it.

What's in the bag

  • Wooden comb with pouch — works through tangles and pulls product down the length of the hair to the skin.
  • Synthetic bristle brush — lifts the hair, clears loose skin, and trains the beard to lie in one direction. Synthetic, not boar — most beard brushes on the market are boar bristle, so this one is genuinely vegan.
  • Mustache scissors — for strays and the lip line, where a trimmer is too blunt an instrument.
  • Travel bag — holds all of it, plus a bottle.

The order they go in

Brush first, to lift the hair and clear anything loose. Then apply your oil, balm or cream to damp skin underneath. Comb through to distribute it along the length. Scissors last, on dry hair, for whatever still stands out.
